Key to our work at Fighting Back are our partnerships with other community agencies. From law enforcement, public and private schools, child welfare services and other non-governmental organizations, we can accomplish more if we work together.
As a local community agency your organization can partner with us in several ways:
- Refer families or kids to our services and programs
- Collaborate with us on events and new programs
- Bring new ideas, unmet needs or social problems that you would like to see addressed to our attention
Several great examples of this kind of collaboration happened recently. When the city Parks and Recreation Department contacted us to talk about their drop in centers and the lack of kids stopping by, we partnered with them and the United Way to bring a new literacy intervention program to the centers. We’ve been approached by an organization helping kids reintegrate after Juvenile Hall or Camp and we will be working with these kids to help them pass educational tests that will help them become employable. Many other collaborations are in the works!
Fighting Back Coalition
We are proud to host the Fighting Back Coalition. The Coalition is a group of parents, teens, agencies and organizations who want to work together to combat drugs and alcohol, keep kids in school learning and build a healthier community. Anyone can join the Coalition!
We meet bi-monthly and anyone is welcome to attend our meetings. Contact Dawnette for more information by email or by calling (805) 346-1774.
Whether you represent a non-profit, a school, a government agency or a business, we would love to talk to you and partner together to make our community safer and healthier for our kids. Contact Executive Director Edwin Weaver by calling (805) 346-1774 or email Edwin here.
