There are many ways for parents and teens to get involved at Fighting Back – from our Coalition to our Youth Action Group and more.
Fighting Back Coalition
We are proud to host the Fighting Back Coalition. The Coalition is a group of parents, teens, agencies and organizations who want to work together to combat drugs and alcohol, keep kids in school learning and build a healthier community. Anyone can join the Coalition!
We meet bi-monthly and anyone is welcome to attend our meetings. Contact Dawnette for more information by email or by calling (805) 346-1774.
Youth Action Group
Fighting Back Santa Maria Valley’s Youth Action Group is comprised of local junior high and high school students who are motivated about taking a stand against violence, drugs and alcohol in their schools and community.
The Youth Action Group is focused on providing peer-to-peer support against issues that teens face in our community. They continually work to address issues in our community by raising awareness through Youth Rally’s, Town Hall Meetings, Public Service Announcements and many other projects. They have hosted prevention and intervention programs to combat problems that youth are faced with, which have built skills and promoted healthy choices. They have been advocates on important issues by bringing those issues and concerns to the leaders in our community. They have been community volunteers and community partners to help make our community better.
Fighting Back Santa Maria Valley’s Youth Action Group are young people who are willing and committed to creating a positive change in our community. For more information about how to get involved in the Youth Action Group, contact us at (805) 346-1774 or email Dawnette.
