Students in Transition

There are well over 5,000 homeless students who live in the Santa Maria Valley. Homeless students are at risk of not finishing school due to the transitory nature of their status. Fighting Back Santa Maria Valley has one full time Program Specialist and one part time Program Specialist assigned to provide homeless liaison support services at Santa Maria Bonita School District and one full time Program Specialist at Santa Maria Joint Union High School District.

Fighting Back Santa Maria Valley provides direct services to homeless students with a variety of support services including assisting families transition from motels to homeless shelter in order to start the path toward permanent housing. Assist with setting up transportation so students continue attending the same school.
